On Carnival cruise ships, there is not a lack of options for casual dining spots. There are so many venues serving breakfast and lunch that it’s almost impossible to try them all in just seven days. But today, we went with breakfast burritos from BlueIguana Cantina. The Carnival Jubilee cruise ship also features a massive Lido Marketplace buffet open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It includes stations for pasta, salad, carved meats, stir-fry, sandwiches, desserts, and more.

On the last night of the cruise, we dined at Rudi’s Seagrill, which also has a cover charge of $49 a person. Starters like calamari and seafood bisque, along with entrees including a surf and turf and the signature crab stuffed lobster tail, will satisfy any palette. Along with all the complimentary venues, Carnival Jubilee offers a few specialty restaurants.
Carnival has brought its Cloud 9 spa, salon and fitness center to Carnival Jubilee. They feature a plethora of pampering treatments that run the gamut from massages and facials to manicures and pedicures, hair styling and classes like yoga and spin. The fitness center, which is free to use, is equipped with LifeFitness machines, exercise balls, dumb bells and other amenities.

The ship has a Japanese specialty restaurant (named Bonsai Teppanyaki) located within the Bonsai Sushi restaurant (on Promenade-Havana Deck). The restaurant offers authentic Far East dishes and a live cooking show performance (by the chefs) at custom-built cooking stations positioned at the center of an 8-seat dining table. Each meal at Bonsai Teppanyaki starts with a sampling of 5 appetizers (Miso Soup, Pork Belly Yakitori, Spicy Tuna on Rocks). Each meal ends with the specialty desserts "Chocolate Bento Box" and "Green Tea Ice Cream". The restaurant is open for lunch (seadays only) and for dinner (every night of the voyage).

We thought the price was a little on the steep side for what you get. When cruise ships are in Texas waters, the onboard bars are only allowed to serve alcohol that was obtained in Texas. That means the types of alcohol available could be limited when Carnival Jubilee (or any other ship) is in port. If you're loyal to a particular brand of vodka, for example, you might have to switch things up and try some Tito's if you're hankering for a tipple before you set sail. Passengers have to make their way to the lounge, which isn't next to the theater. It's kitschy but classy in the most unexpected and delightful ways.

There are several comedy shows each evening in both the Limelight Lounge (PG comedy) and Punchliner Comedy Club (18+). I think we counted a total of five comedians over our seven days onboard. Fahrenheit 555 is Carnival Cruise Line’s steakhouse; this specialty restaurant has an up-charge of $49 per person, which is certainly cheaper when compared to other cruise lines’ steakhouses. After watching for a few minutes, we made our way aft to the Ultimate Playground zone. We debated playing a round of mini golf, but it was pretty busy.
Lastly, the balcony offered adequate space with two chairs and a table. It was the ideal spot to watch sail away from ports of call or to do some work in the afternoon. Unlike some cruise lines, the chairs did not have ottomans to go along with them. The Punchliner Comedy Club, forward on Deck 6, is the adult comedy venue. In Limelight Lounge, midship on Deck 7, a different comedian offers family-friendly comedy shows.
Cabin balconies are accessed via sliding floor-ceiling glass doors. At our table you’ll enjoy delicious Italian favorites — we serve them family-style because we know that sharing large plates and sharing tales of your day’s adventures goes hand-in-hand.
Of course, our preference was the 80’s party complete with glow sticks and plenty of 80’s hits. Carnival cruiser favorite Ben tickled the ivories at the Piano Bar 88 most nights of the cruise, with the first hour of his set reserved for families. Not to mention, on several nights, cruisers could belt-out their own tunes with karaoke sessions.
